padauk + mahoghany

I first saw the beautiful sixteen foot long slab of straight grained padauk while looking for the tonewoods needed for a different guitar. When I returned a month later and the brilliant reddish, orange slab was still displayed in the middle of my favorite local timber supplier’s showroom, I decided I would have to use it in my next guitar. Padauk has similar sonic qualities to maple making it a great visual and tonal counter to the mahogany and ebony that complete the guitar.
